Governor Abbott Again Extends Suspension Of Hotel Occupancy Tax After Hurricane Harvey

September 21, 2017 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott today extended his proclamation suspending both state and local hotel and motel occupancy taxes for relief-effort personnel and victims of Hurricane Harvey. This extension will further help ease the financial burden of those residing in hotels or motels due to lost housing as a result of the storm.

“Although the storm is over, the recovery effort in Texas is just beginning to take shape,” said Governor Abbott. “Many Texans impacted by the storm are still facing temporary housing challenges, and this extension will help eliminate financial burdens for victims and relief-effort personnel. The state will continue to do everything possible to help Texas families rebuilding their lives and get back to the comfort of their own homes.”
