First Lady Cecilia Abbott Visits Irving, Tours Thomas Haley Elementary School
IRVING – Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott today visited Thomas Haley Elementary School in Irving, where she toured the school and met with the Principal and Irving ISD Superintendent, as well as teachers and students in several classrooms.
“Thank you to Dr. Parra and Principal Zavala for the warm welcome to Thomas Haley Elementary. I'm so proud of what you have achieved - Thomas Haley Elementary is home to the Irving ISD Teacher of the Year, and the school district was the National AP District of the Year,” said Mrs. Abbott. “It was so wonderful to be back in a school today and have the opportunity to visit with teachers and students. As a former teacher and principal, I know that the path to success begins with education. Governor Abbott and I are committed to making sure that all Texas students have access to the best education possible, and we look forward to working with administrators, teachers and parents across our great state to create the best education system in the nation.”
The First Lady was joined by Irving ISD Superintendent Dr. Jose Parra, who was a guest of the Governor and First Lady for the Governor’s State of the State Address in February.
