First Lady Cecilia Abbott Honors 2018 Governor’s Small Business Award Winners

First Lady Cecilia Abbott was in the Dallas Fort-Worth area today to talk about the important role that women-owned businesses play in the success of our state’s economy. The First Lady addressed the Governor’s Business Forum for Women hosted by the Texas Governor’s Office in partnership with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Women Business Owners, and Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County. First Lady Cecilia Abbott presented the 2018 Governor’s Small Business Awards and honored the recipients.

"Texas leads the nation in the number of jobs created by Hispanic, African-American, and veteran women-owned businesses," said First Lady Cecilia Abbott. "Governor Abbott and I believe that women who invest in themselves will change the future of Texas, and will in turn change the world ─ because when Texas women succeed, we all succeed."

Four DFW small business owners were awarded the 2018 Governor's Small Business Award. Those winners are:

  • Crystal Arredondo of MPACT Financial Group LLC
  • Rosa Navejar of The Rios Group, Inc.
  • Sharon Douglas of Potere Construction
  • Darla Beggs of Abba Staffing
