First Lady Cecilia Abbott Delivers Remarks At Dripping Springs High School Service Day
Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott yesterday delivered remarks at Dripping Springs High School's Service Day. The First Lady discussed the importance of service to the community, and the positive impact of Texans helping their fellow Texans.
"I believe that every Texan is called to service, and we all have a responsibility to help our fellow neighbor and give back to our communities," said First Lady Cecilia Abbott. "Service may simply be sharing a warm smile or a warm meal, or sharing a few extra dollars or a few extra hours. Regardless of how you give back, service is such a meaningful gift that makes a positive impact on our communities. I thank the students of Dripping Springs High School for enthusiastically answering the call to serve, and for inspiring their fellow Texans to share their commitment to helping our neighbors."
Dripping Springs High School's annual Service Day mobilizes thousands of students in a variety of service projects, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives. This year, 1,450 students volunteered more than 4,500 hours and raised over $17,000 for causes in and around the Dripping Springs community.
