#Stand4Freedom

April 10, 2015

Today is Texas Ending Modern Slavery Day, and I was proud to join students from UT, Baylor and A&M, and many other Texans, at the ‪#‎Stand4Freedom Rally at the Capitol. It made me very hopeful to see so many students and people of faith at the rally. They are all witnesses to the good that we can do together to end human trafficking. In the face of such evil, we may feel too small and too weak to make a difference, but nothing is impossible if we believe. And I do believe, because I’ve seen the commitment of the leaders here in Texas, including my husband, Governor Greg Abbott. I read a letter to the attendees from Greg, who has fought his entire career to protect the defenseless, and is a national leader in the fight against human trafficking.

I am so proud of the work Texas has done – our great state has been a national leader, and with your support, Texas will continue to lead the fight. I am confident that together we can end human trafficking.
