Marketing Specialist – Austin, Texas
The Office of the Governor is looking for a Marketing Specialist (Marketing Specialist II) to work in the Economic Development and Tourism Office (EDT) – Texas Film Commission (TFC).

The salary is $4,166.67 - $5,000.00 a month ($50,000.04 - $60,000.00 a year).

What You’ll Do
This position performs moderately complex (journey-level) marketing work. Assists in planning and maintenance of TFC social media; planning, facilitating and coordinating marketing initiatives, events, and communication materials; and supports the TFC marketing team. Supports and coordinates co-op advertising, marketing initiatives, and events.
- Maintains TFC social media accounts/platforms.
- Gathers and creates assets/content for TFC social media accounts/platforms.
- Maintains the TFC Job Hotline and events calendar.
- Serves as a point of contact for all film festivals in Texas, providing guidance, resources, information, and community contacts to support film festivals region’s economic development and tourism goals.
- Assists with the development of marketing plans and social media calendars.
- Responds to education and workforce training inquiries and collaborates with the TFC marketing team on workshop planning.
- Maintains a database of industry and community contacts for marketing events.
- Assists in the creation and preparation of marketing materials (such as brochures, program flyers, stickers), delivery and maintaining an up-to-date inventory.
- Represents TFC at trade shows, film festivals, conferences, and industry events, and assists in organizing registration logistics for TFC staff participation.
- Collaborates with colleagues in responding to constituent inquiries regarding TFC services and other general industry inquiries; troubleshoots as needed. Assists with requests for ceremonial letters for industry events, festivals, etc.
- Remains well informed of EDT and OOG initiatives, policies, procedures, operations, news releases, web content, programs, and statewide trends.
- Maintains a regular work schedule.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
How You’ll Qualify
- High school graduate or equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in the film/television/commercial/advertising industries.
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
You’re a Great Fit with
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in communications, public relations, film/television, graphic design/advertising, marketing or a related field;
- Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; HTML, CSS, Express Engine, and Microsoft Office Suite;
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge relating to social media platforms and management; and
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management and event planning.
