The Office of the Governor is looking for a Human Resources Generalist (Human Resources Specialist III) to work in the Human Resources (HR) Division.

The salary is $4,666.67 - $5,083.34 a month ($56,000.04 - $61,000.08 a year).

What You’ll Do
This is a job that performs complex (journey-level) human resources management work. Work involves assisting in the administration of human resources management programs (recruitment and selection, compensation, classification, employee relations, and/or benefits).
- Conducts job analyses to determine proper classification and prepares new or revised job descriptions and job advertisements.
- Performs comprehensive recruiting efforts, including sourcing and attracting talent; screening job applications and evaluating their qualifications; and attending job fairs.
- Contributes to the development of the agency Recruitment Plan.
- Provides advice and counsel to employees and management on a wide range of HR management programs.
- Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements and under the direction of the HR Director.
- Processes new hires in CAPPS.
- Generates and processes Personnel/Payroll Action forms in the HR database for terminations.
- Processes and maintains Outside Employment forms.
- Provides input and assists in maintaining standard operating procedures for the division.
- Enters data for divisional reports as approved by the HR Director.
- Assists with screening and evaluating employment applicant qualifications, as needed.
- Serves as backup to hiring.
- May assist with special projects as needed.
How You’ll Qualify
- High school graduate or equivalent; and
- Three (3) years of professional experience in human resources administration or a related staff services function (i.e., benefits, compliance, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, training and development, workers’ comp, performance management, and/or change management).
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification may substitute for two (2) years of experience; or
A Human Resources Certificate from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
You’re a Great Fit with
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in human resources, business administration, management, communications, or a related field;
- Prior experience in state government;
- Experience in writing and communications work; and
- Experience in the review and development of job descriptions and job postings.
