Research Specialist – Austin, Texas
The Office of the Governor is looking for a Research Specialist (Research Specialist IV) to work in the Economic Development and Tourism Office.

The salary is $5,400.00 - $5,875.00 a month ($64,800.00 - $70,500.00 a year).

What You’ll Do
This is a job that performs advanced (senior-level) research work. Work involves research work involving performing specialized research projects pertaining to fiscal, administrative, or program functions of the Economic Development and Tourism Office.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes research data.
- Analyzes data sets using statistical methods and relational databases.
- Prepares or assists in preparing reports of research findings.
- Conduct data-gathering interviews.
- Write or edit technical reports and summaries of findings.
- Creates and recommends new initiatives and innovations related to workforce training and the development of a forum focused on education, research and development, and commercial production of semiconductors.
- Prepare research data sets and document data structure and definitions.
- Consult on research design, planning, instrumentation, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Plan the development, implementation, and monitoring of research projects.
- Determine the scope and methodologies of research projects and areas to be evaluated.
- Develop policies and procedures used in conducting and administering research, demonstration, and evaluation activities.
- Works closely with ED Finance and Research and Economic Analysis teams within EDT on analysis of prospective applicants for the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund.
- Develop data quality assurance procedures and conduct quality assurance reviews on research projects.
- Consult and provide technical advice on research methods and techniques.
- Prepare and conduct presentations.
- Supports program activities for the EDT, the Texas CHIPS Office, the TSIC Executive Committee, and members of the TSIC.
- Demonstrates subject matter expertise, professional confidence and clarity when representing the Office.
How You’ll Qualify
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university degree in business or public administration, computer science, statistical analysis, research methodology, library methods, or related field; and
- Four (4) years of experience in research and planning work.
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
You’re a Great Fit with
- MBA or MS degree in public administration, computer science, statistical analysis, research methodology, library methods, or related field related field.
- Advanced writing skills.
- Experience in program evaluation, and the collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, including large data sets.
