Staff Auditor – Austin, Texas

The Office of the Governor is looking for a Staff Auditor (Auditor I - II) to work in the Office of Compliance and Monitoring.

The salary is $4,235.00 - $4,850.00 a month ($50,820.00 - $58,200.00 a year).

What You’ll Do

This is a job that performs routine to moderately complex (journey-level) desk monitoring reviews on grantees receiving funds awarded by the Office of the Governor and provides technical assistance when needed.

  • Conducts desk reviews based on program schedule.
  • Examines audit issues by researching grant topics through interviews, document reviews, prior audit findings, and other documentation.
  • Examines management practices, internal controls, and financial accounting records to ensure standards are being met and to determine ongoing compliance with legal regulations. 
  • Prepares monitoring reports, which includes work papers, draft reports, and final reports. Reviews management responses on non-compliance issues to incorporate into final reports.
  • Communicates with grantees and provides technical assistance as needed.

How You’ll Qualify                                           

Auditor I

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, or related field.

Auditor II

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, or related field; and
  • One (1) year of experience in auditing, accounting, compliance monitoring (financial), financial investigation, and/or grant management (financial).

Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Salary and position level will be based on experience and demonstrated skills.

You’re a Great Fit with

Auditor I

  • Degree with nine (9) hours of college level accounting courses; and
  • Six (6) months of experience in auditing, accounting, compliance monitoring (financial), financial investigation, and/or grant management (financial).

Auditor II

  • Degree with nine (9) hours of college level accounting courses; and
  • Experience in grant or non-profit accounting, grant monitoring, or grant auditing.
