Purchaser – Austin, Texas

The Office of the Governor is looking for a Purchaser (Purchaser III) to work in the Financial Services Division.

The salary is $4,224.00 - $5,116.58 a month ($50,688.00 - $61,398.96 a year).

What You’ll Do

This is a job that performs purchasing and procurement work. Work involves purchasing and procuring OOG commodities, equipment, and services in accordance with guidelines, rules, policies, and laws.

  • Requisitions and orders supplies, computer equipment, furniture, and publications for all OOG divisions in accordance with all state and OOG purchasing procedures.
  • Audits invoices and checks for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Tracks the status of requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Processes receipts of purchases.
  • Maintains and reviews various purchasing and procurement reports, records, and files.
  • Maintains the Legislative Budget Board (LBB) Contract Database.
  • Initiates, approves, and processes emergency purchases.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to purchasing OOG staff, other agency staff, and vendors regarding state and agency purchasing regulations, policies, and processes.
  • Reviews bids and purchase orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
  • Conducts a needs assessment to determine requirements for the purchase of goods or services.

How You’ll Qualify

  • Three (3) years of experience in the purchasing and procurement of goods and services; and
  • Experience with Centralized Accounting Payroll/Personnel system (CAPPS) Financials.

Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.  

You’re a Great Fit with

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related major.
  • Certified as a Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) or Certified Texas Procurement Manager (CTPM).
  • Experience with Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS).
