House Bill 700 Becomes Law (84R)

June 20, 2015 | Austin, Texas

Tuition set-asides subsidize the education of some students at the cost of all, and should be eliminated as provided by House Bill No. 700. Unfortunately, this bill does not require a coresponding cut in tuition. University boards of regents should decrease tuition in proportion to the amount no longer required to be set aside by law, rather than using this legislation as a new source of revenue.

Respectfully submitted,

GREG ABBOTT
Governor
