I encourage all Texans to take a moment to read through these tips: Summer is here and with that comes adventures at summer camps, trips to amusement parks and memories to be made during family vacations. This is also the perfect time to review some tips to help keep your children safer during the next few months.
The 2018 Governor’s Gallery
Yesterday I was thrilled to welcome the artists behind the 2018 Governor’s Gallery to the Texas Capitol for a reception in their honor. These works of art are created by Texas schoolchildren grades pre-k through senior in high school and are displayed in the Governor’s Business Office in the Capitol for a year.
Happy Father’s Day
Father’s Day is a holiday I hold dear to my heart as we celebrate the love we have for the fathers across Texas. It’s a great day to show our gratitude and appreciation for our dads as we remind them how much they mean to us—not just on Father’s Day, but throughout the entire year. This Sunday, I want to thank fathers across our wonderful state for all of their hard work, their unconditional love for their children, and the strength they provide to their families.
Texanthropy Spotlight: AGE of Central Texas
During my years working at a senior health care services company, I had the pleasure of learning about a wonderful organization here in Austin that offers programming to older adults and family caregivers: AGE of Central Texas. Founded in 1986, AGE provides direct services to hundreds of older adults each year. AGE is the only licensed adult day health care center in the area. Other services include free loans of durable medical equipment to keep seniors safe and mobile, and invaluable education, resources, and support to the unpaid family caregivers who are supporting an older loved one.
Honoring our Texas Women Veterans
Yesterday I attended the first annual Texas Women Veterans Day Celebration at the Texas State Capitol, where I was joined by hundreds of Texans in Austin – and thousands more at events across the state – in honoring our women veterans in the Lone Star State.

It was such an honor to have the opportunity to join dozens of dedicated professionals from so many extraordinary Austin non-profit organizations.
Get Out and Discover the Great Outdoors
I am excited to announce that June is Great Outdoors Month in Texas. The Lone Star State has been blessed with glorious natural beauty from the corners of the Panhandle to the fertile Rio Grande Valley. Tourists from all across our nation travel to see the beautiful national landmarks in our great state. Texas has outdoor activities for all to enjoy that include—but are certainly not limited to—hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, boating, camping, geocaching, and wildlife watching.
