Access to Electronic Information and Resources for Individuals with Disabilities
(Texas Government Code,Chapter 2054.451-465)
- Requires State Agencies and institutions of higher education to provide persons and employees with disabilities access comparable to what is provided to others without disabilities for the following:
- telephones and other telecommunications products
- information kiosks
- transaction machines
- internet websites
- multimedia resources
- office equipment
- Requires training and technical assistance to be available to state agencies.
- Requires emerging technologies to be evaluated for accessibility through rules developed by the Department of Information Resources before use by state agencies and higher education institutions.
- Creates exceptions for significant difficulty or expense, embedded information resources, and medical equipment.
- Allows the public to inform the Department of Information Resources about compliance concerns.
