Governor Abbott Appoints Weir To State Board For Educator Certification

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Bobbie Lynn Weir to the State Board for Educator Certification for a term set to expire on expire on February 1, 2027. The Board develops certification and continuing education requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers.

Bobbie Lynn Weir of Dallas is a career and technical education teacher for Richardson High School, where she is currently the hotel practicum coordinator and former private sector business executive. Most recently her visionary and entrepreneurial approach led to the creation of a new "Hotel Lobby Area Learning Center" providing Workforce Development opportunities to students. She is a national board-certified teacher with certifications in marketing education, business education, English as a second language supplement, speech, and family consumer science. She is the former president of the Hospitality Education Association of Texas (HEAT), advisory board member of The Educator Collective, education committee member of the Hotel Association of North Texas (HANTX), and an alumnus fellow of Teach Plus Policy. She has received numerous awards including Junior Achievement teacher of the year award, Richardson Independent School District (ISD) CTE Career Connector award, Richardson ISD CTE outstanding educator award, HEAT hospitality teacher of the year award, and the HANTX hotel teacher of the year award. Weir received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Abilene Christian University
