Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas State Board Of Examiners of Marriage And Family Therapists
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Anthony Scoma to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists for a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Additionally, the Governor appointed Rich Stoglin and reappointed George Francis, IV for terms set to expire February 1, 2023. The board licenses and regulates Marriage and Family Therapists in Texas.
Anthony Scoma of Austin is the founder and Senior Pastor of Southwest Family Fellowship. He serves as Sectional Presbyter of the South Austin Section for the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. He previously served as an Associate Pastor of Discipleship at a church in Springfield, Missouri, a recruitment coordinator at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and as a legislative aide to a member of the Texas State House of Representatives. He is a board member of The University of Texas Chi Alpha and is an ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God, USA. He is a former board member and national instructor of Church Planting and Multiplication Board for the North Texas District Council of the Assemblies of God. Scoma received a Bachelor of Arts in history and English from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Divinity from Assemblies of God Seminary. Additionally, he is currently a doctoral candidate at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Rich Stoglin of Arlington is the CEO of The Stoglin Group. He received an honorable discharge after 28 years of serving as a Chaplain in the United States Navy. He has previously served as Special Senior Advisor to 39 Nations to U.S. Military Generals and Command Coalition Staff in Afghanistan, Regiment Chaplain, 14th Marines, USMC (US Navy Reservist), and in the Department of Justice as Department Head of Religious Services in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He is a member of the Naval Reserves Officers Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Arlington Civil Service Commission. Stoglin received a Bachelor of Science in history and political science from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, a Master of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary, a Master of Public Administration in Public Policy from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Doctor of Ministry in Counseling Administration from United Theological Seminary, and a diploma from the Naval War College.
George Francis, IV of Georgetown is director of Operations Shared Services Delivery for Dell Inc. He is a board member of the Austin Area Urban League, national technology committee member of Sigma Pi Phi, and an Eagle Scout and former scout master for the Capitol Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He is a former member of the National Black MBA Association, the Meridian Charter School Circle of Family Friends and past chair and board member of the Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce. He is also a past board member of the City of Austin Employee Retirement System and Austin Parks Foundation. George received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas.
