Governor Abbott Appoints Thomas To Texas Workforce Commission

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Robert D. Thomas to the Texas Workforce Commission for a term set to expire on February 1, 2019. The commission is charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers in Texas.

Robert D. Thomas of Austin is founder and principal of the Thomas Consulting Group. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Real Estate Council of Austin and the Entrepreneur Organization – Austin Chapter. He is a gubernatorial appointee and chair of the Texas Facilities Commission and former gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Additionally, he is a member of the Austin Community College Bond Oversight Committee and the Downtown Austin Vision Steering Committee, former member of the Travis County Civil and Family Courts Committee, and former board member of the African American Cultural Heritage District. Thomas received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and German from Loyola University, Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law, and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
