Governor Abbott Appoints Kim to State Board of Educator Certification

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Andrew Kim to the State board of Educator Certification for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. The board develops certification and continuing education requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers.

Andrew Kim of New Braunfels is the Superintendent of Schools at Comal Independent School District. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators, Fast Schools Growth Coalition, New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Canyon Lake Noon Lions Club. Additionally, he previously served as chair of the Texas School Safety Center Board. Kim received a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval Studies from Fordham University and a Master of Education in Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Superintendent Program at The University of Texas at Arlington.
