Governor Abbott Appoints Chaney As Deputy Adjutant General For Army
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Brigadier General Greg Chaney to serve as Deputy Adjutant General for Army, effective January 1, 2019, for a term to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The Deputy Adjutant General for Army coordinates activities of the Texas Military Forces with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) to ensure funding and compliance occur with other federal, state, and local jurisdictions in matters relating to missions of the Texas Army National Guard.
General Greg Chaney of Merkel currently serves as the Director of Joint Staff, where he is responsible to the Adjutant General and the Governor for all hazards response planning, execution, and integration with civilian authorities including border security operations, counterdrug operations, and emergency response for natural and manmade disasters. He is a member of the National Guard Association of Texas, National Guard Association of the United States, Association of the United States Army, and the Army Engineer Association. Chaney received a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology and a Master of Science in mid-management from Abilene Christian University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
