Governor Abbott Presents Texas Purple Hearts, Honors Victims Of Fort Hood Terror Attack

The victims of the November 2009 terrorist attack on Fort Hood today received honors at a ceremony in Killeen, Texas. Governor Greg Abbott attended the ceremony to present Texas Purple Heart Medals posthumously to the fallen, as well as to the surviving military members. The ceremony also included the unveiling of a memorial to honor all those affected on that tragic day.

“America is the brightest beacon of freedom in the world because of the men and women who put sacrifice above self,” said Governor Abbott. “Today is a day to honor that sacrifice, mourn their loss, and celebrate their dedication and commitment to the defense of our nation. I am proud to join in the remembrance of the brave individuals we recognize today and readily renew my commitment to the Lone Star State to work tirelessly to ensure our safety from those who seek to do us harm.”
