Governor Abbott Statement On Federal Judicial Nominees
Governor Greg Abbott today released the following statement on President Donald Trump's intent to nominate Jeff Brown to serve as U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, and Brantley Starr to serve as U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Texas:
“I applaud President Trump for nominating Jeff Brown and Brantley Starr to serve as U.S. District Judges,” said Governor Abbott. “I have had the privilege to work with both Jeff and Brantley and have witnessed firsthand their sharp legal minds and commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law. I look forward to the Senate confirming their nominations.”
Jeff Brown, who has served as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Texas since 2013, began his career as a law clerk for then-Justice Abbott and Justice Jack Hightower upon graduating from the University of Houston Law Center.
Brantley Starr, the Deputy First Assistant Attorney General of Texas, worked for then-Attorney General Abbott and then-Solicitor General Ted Cruz after graduating from the University Texas School of Law.
