Governor Abbott Participates In Fireside Chat At Texas Economic Development Corporation Summit In Midland
Governor Greg Abbott today participated in a fireside chat hosted by the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TxEDC) at their Regional Business Summit in Midland. The Governor discussed the welcoming business climate in Texas, as well as the growing economic diversity and development of the Permian Basin.
The fireside chat was led by Robert Allen, President and CEO of TxEDC. Other panelists included Tracee Bentley, President and CEO of the Permian Strategic Partnership, Vicki Hollub, President and CEO of Occidental and Vice Chair of TxEDC, and Bryan Sheffield, Executive Chairman of Parsley Energy and Board Member of TxEDC.
"The Midland-Odessa region plays an important role in the ever-expanding Texas economy, and the oil and gas industry is a driving force behind our record job growth," said Governor Abbott. "We must continue to invest in our workforce, diversify our business climate, and expand economic freedom in order to maximize opportunity and meet industry needs. If we do this, there is no limit to how big the Texas economy can grow."
"I am grateful to Governor Abbott for his leadership in economic development across the state," said Robert Allen. "Thanks to his commitment to workforce development, growing innovation, and fostering a strong business climate, the Texas economy is flourishing."
The Texas Economic Development Corporation, its board of directors appointed by Governor Abbott, hosts multiple events across the state throughout the year to update the business and economic development communities on initiatives, highlight recent and planned marketing efforts, and recognize significant business commitments in each community or region.
