Governor Abbott Reappoints Rivera to Texas Lottery Commission

Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Robert Rivera to the Texas Lottery Commission for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. The commission controls and supervises the operations of the state lottery and bingo, ensuring that all games are conducted fairly and in compliance with state law.

Robert Rivera of Dallas is a Director at FMSBonds, Inc. He previously served on the Arlington City Council from 2005 to 2017, and he is a former chairman of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau. He previously served as a board member for several non-profit and civic organizations, including YMCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, the Salvation Army, and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. Governor Abbott first appointed Rivera to the Texas Lottery Commission in 2015 and named him Chairman of the Commission in 2020. Rivera received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Arlington.
