Governor Abbott Reappoints Hayden And Mertz-Ulmer To The Texas Private Security Board
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Wade Hayden and Debi Mertz-Ulmer to the Texas Private Security Board for terms set to expire on January 31, 2025. The board regulates the private security profession in Texas including armed and unarmed security guards, personal protection officers, private investigators, private security consultants, alarm systems installers and monitors, guard dog trainers, armored car couriers, electronic access control device installers, and locksmiths.
Wade Hayden of San Antonio is an attorney and managing partner with Hayden & Cunningham, PLLC. He is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, Texas Bar Association, and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel. Hayden graduated from Uvalde High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Southwest Texas Junior College, a Bachelor of Science in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University, and a Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Debi Mertz-Ulmer of Houston is the sales and industry affairs liaison for Acadian Monitoring Services. She is a member of the Electronic Security Association, member, former president, and former treasurer for the Houston Gulf Coast Alarm Association, and secretary and convention chair for the Texas Burglar & Fire Alarm Association. Previously, she was a member of the Texas Locksmith Association and the Greater Houston Locksmith Association. She also volunteers with Citizens for Animal Protection. Mertz-Ulmer graduated from Brenham High School and received her certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to serve as a reserve constable deputy.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
