Governor Abbott Names Chair And Appoints Three To The Texas Holocaust And Genocide Commission
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Lynne Aronoff and appointed Jeffrey Beck and Rabbi Ilan Emanuel to the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission for terms set to expire on February 1, 2023. Additionally, the Governor named Aronoff chair of the commission. The commission was established to ensure that resources are available to students, educators and the general public regarding the Holocaust and other genocides.
Lynne Aronoff of Houston is the former president of StoneNet, Inc., and a former teacher at the Hebrew Academy in Houston. She is a board member for the Jewish Family Foundation and Citizenship Month of Houston, vice president of the Consular Women’s Club of Houston, and a board member and former officer for the Jewish Family Service. Additionally, she is an honorary host committee member for the Aga Khan Foundation and previously served as a board member for the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston. Aronoff received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from The University of Texas at Austin.
Jeffrey Beck of Dallas is Chairman of the Board of United Texas Bank. He is national board member for the Secure Community Network National Board, Jewish Federation, and the Dallas Holocaust Museum and previously served as the National Board chair for the American Senior Housing Association. Beck received a Bachelor in business administration from the University of Miami.
Ilan Emanuel of Corpus Christi is Rabbi of the Congregation Beth Israel. He is a board member of the South West Association of Reform Rabbis and a former board member of the Lincoln Jewish Community School Board and the Lincoln Jewish Federation. He is a member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Corpus Christi Clergy Alliance. Rabbi Emanuel received a degree in law from the University of Manchester and the University of Westminster and his Rabbinic Ordination form the Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.
