Governor Abbott Appoints University Student Regents, Representative To Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed eight student regents to their respective universities, effective June 1, 2024, for terms set to expire on May 31, 2025. Additionally, the Governor appointed the student representative to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, effective June 1, 2024, for a term set to expire on May 31, 2025.
Texas A&M University System
Cage Sawyers of Van Alstyne received a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy with a minor in energy technology, management, and policy from Texas Christian University. He is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law.
Texas Southern University
Taylor Getwood of Port Arthur received an Associate of Arts in Academic Studies from Lamar State College Port Arthur and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Texas Southern University (TSU). He is pursuing an Executive Master of Public Administration from TSU.

Olivia Discon of Huntsville is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.

Jad Zeitouni of Lubbock received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University (TTU) and is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine from the TTU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.

Maya Landgrebe of Alvin received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University (TWU) and is pursuing a Doctor of Occupational Therapy from the TWU Institute of Health Sciences - Houston Center.

Tomas Bryan of Houston is an associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is pursuing a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Houston.

He is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine from UT Tyler School of Medicine and an Executive Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from UT Tyler. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
