Governor Abbott Appoints Three To The Texas Private Security Board
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Derrick Howard, Alan Trevino, and Stephen Willeford to the Texas Private Security Board for terms set to expire on January 31, 2023. The board regulates the private security profession in Texas including armed and unarmed security guards, personal protection officers, private investigators, private security consultants, alarm systems installers and monitors, guard dog trainers, armored car couriers, electronic access control device installers, and locksmiths.
Derrick Howard of Universal City is the executive director of the Bexar County Community Arenas. He is a spokesman with the Black Professional Leadership Network, member of the International Association of Arena Managers, and a former chair and current member of San Antonio ISD Foundation. Previously, he served as chair of City Public Service Energy and Goodwill of San Antonio and on the executive committee of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Howard received a Bachelor of Science from Prairie View A&M University.
Alan Trevino of Austin is owner and president of Sentry Security & Investigations, L.P., and is a licensed master peace officer, with over 20 years of law enforcement experience. He is a member of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators and served as president of the Associated Security Services and Investigators of the State of Texas. Trevino is honorably retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety, where he was second in command and detail leader for Governor Bush’s detail.
Stephen Willeford of Sutherland Springs is a plumber at University Hospital, with almost 35 years of experience. He is a member of the Local 142 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union and the National Rifle Association and a former assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. Willeford earned his license from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship School in San Antonio.
