Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas Crime Stoppers Council
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Lauren Day and Greg New and appointed Stephanie Vanskike to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council for terms set to expire on September 1, 2024. The Council advises the Governor on crime stoppers programs in Texas and certifies local crime stoppers programs in order for them to receive payments of rewards or payments of probation fees established by the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Lauren Day of Austin is founder and president of GoodBuzz Solutions, a marketing consulting firm. She is a member of Women Communicators of Austin, Hill Country Bible Church Steiner Ranch, and the Board for the Esther Council. Day received a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Arts in International Relations and a Master of Science in Public Relations from Syracuse University.
Greg New of Waxahachie is a peace officer for the City of Grand Prairie, with nearly 32 years of law enforcement experience, and is a certified mental health peace officer and currently assigned to the Crisis Support Unit. He has served Crime Stoppers for over 20 years as Coordinator of the local program and serves as Chair of the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. He is a member of the Texas Municipal Police Association and Chisholm Trail Crime Prevention Association, past vice president of the Grand Prairie Police Association, and past president of the Midlothian Youth Baseball Association. New graduated from the Kissimmee Florida Police Academy and the North Central Council of Government Police Academy, where he received his Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Stephanie Vanskike of Beaumont is the Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas. She is a member of the Press Club of Southeast Texas, The Symphony League of Beaumont, and other volunteer organizations in her area. Vanskike received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.
