Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas County And District Retirement System Board Of Trustees
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Susan Fletcher and Kara Sands and reappointed Mary Louise Garcia to the Texas County and District Retirement System Board of Trustees for terms set to expire on December 31, 2023. The board exists to provide Texas County and district employees with retirement, disability and survivor benefits.
Susan Fletcher of Frisco is Commissioner of Precinct 1 in Collin County, where she has served since 2014. She is a member of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, Collin County Investment Committee, University of North Texas Master Planning Committee – Frisco Campus, North Texas Crime Commission, and the Conference of Urban Counties Policy Committee and the Public Power Pool Committee. Additionally, she is a former chairman of the Collin County Healthcare Advisory Board and a former member of the Collin County Election Ballot Board. She is a graduate of the Commissioners Court Academy Class VI at the V.G. Young Institute – Texas A&M University and Texas Associations of Counties (TAC) Leadership 254 Class I, as well as TAC’s Core Legislative Group. Fletcher received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in commercial interior design and industrial technology from the University of North Texas.
Kara Sands of Corpus Christi is the Nueces County Clerk, where she has served since 2015. She is a member of the County and District Clerks’ Association of Texas Legislative Committee and the Texas Conference of Urban Counties. Additionally, she has served in various positions for Church Unlimited for 15 years.
Mary Louise Nicholson of Fort Worth is the Tarrant County Clerk, where she has served since 2011. She currently serves on the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee, Tarrant County Bail Bond Board, and the Tarrant County Elections Commission. She is a member of the Property Records Industry Association, Texas Association of Counties, County and District Clerks’ Association of Texas, Additionally, she is a local member of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Fort Worth and Fort Worth Downtown Rotary. Nicholson received a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from The University of Texas at Arlington.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
