Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Judicial Compensation Commission
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Rebeca Aizpuru Huddle and appointed Carlos Amaral and Curt Nelson to the Judicial Compensation Commission for terms set to expire on February 1, 2025. The Commission recommends the proper salaries to be paid by the state for all justices and judges of the Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, Courts of Appeals, and state district courts
Rebeca Aizpuru Huddle of Bellaire is the Partner-in-Charge of the Houston office of Baker Botts L.L.P., and is a former Justice of the First Court of Appeals. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Mexican American Bar Association of Houston, Women’s Energy Network, and the American Bar Association. She is also a member of the Houston Area Women’s Center’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Huddle received a Bachelor of Science in political science from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas Law School.
Carlos Amaral of Plano is a Specialist Leader at Deloitte Consulting L.L.P. He is a former member of the Board of Regents at Stephen F. Austin State University, board member of Citizens’ Development Center, and a former gubernatorial appointee on the Texas Judicial Council. Additionally, Carlos also served as President of the Association for Systems Management. Amaral received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management Information Systems from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
Curt Nelson of San Antonio is the Director of Membership at the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. He is a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives. Nelson received a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
