Governor Abbott Appoints Swanson To Texas Farm And Ranch Lands Conservation Council
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Romey Swanson to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. The council’s duties are to advise and assist the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) with administration of the program and to select applicants to receive grants. The goal of the TFRLCP is a conservation of working lands with high values for water, fish and wildlife, and agricultural production.
Romey Swanson of Austin is the Director of Conservation Strategy for Audubon Texas. He is chair of the Southwestern Section Conservation Affairs Committee for The Wildlife Society and president-elect of The Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society. Additionally, he is a member of the Texas Ornithological Society, Texas Herpetology Society, Hill Country Conservancy Land Committee, Rio Grande Joint Venture Management Committee, Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture Management Committee, and the Lower Colorado River Basin Coalition Executive Committee. Swanson received a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and a Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology from Texas State University.
