Governor Abbott Appoints Shivers To State Pension Review Board

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Shari Shivers to the State Pension Review Board for a term set to expire on January 31, 2023. The board reviews all Texas public retirement systems, both state and local, for actuarial soundness and compliance with state law.

Shari Shivers of Austin is an attorney in the Legal Division of the Texas Legislative Council. She is a Retirement Plans Associate and Group Benefits Associate, certified by the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Travis County Women Lawyers Association. Additionally, she is a sustainer member of the Junior League of Austin, member of Women Investing in Success and Education, former member of the Austin Women’s Symphony League, and a former board member of Parents and Friends of Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA). Shivers received a Bachelor of Science in psychology, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and a Juris Doctor degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
