Governor Abbott Appoints Nine To Rehabilitation Council Of Texas

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Michael A. Ebbeler, Jr., Bobbie Jean Hodges, Elizabeth “Lisa” Maciejewski-West, and Rodrick D. Robinson and reappointed Neva M. Fairchild and Karen Stanfill to the Rehabilitation Council of Texas for terms set to expire on October 29, 2019. Additionally, he appointed Erin “Amanda” Bowdoin and Crystal H. George and reappointed Susan M. May for terms set to expire October 29, 2020. The council partners with the Texas Workforce Commission to advocate for people with disabilities in the vocational rehabilitation process.

Michael A. Ebbeler, Jr. of Austin is a professional in energy exploration.  He is a former member of the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation Steering Committee. Ebbeler received a Bachelor of Arts in government and economics from The University of Texas at Austin.

Bobbie Jean Hodges of Fort Worth is senior director of Workforce Development for Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth. She is a current volunteer for New Friendship Baptist Church in Dallas and former member of the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) and the Mayor’s Advisory Council in Shreveport, Louisiana, and former volunteer for Coats for Kids and Tour De Goodwill, Louisiana. Hodges received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in recreation therapy from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Elizabeth “Lisa” Maciejewski-West of San Angelo is president and owner of Gold Star Medical Business Services. She is a member of San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, Healthcare Compliance Association, and the American Academy of Professional Coders and a former member of American Medical Billers Associations. She also volunteers with PaulAnn Baptist Church. Maciejewski-West received a Bachelor of Arts in music from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, New York.

Rodrick D. Robinson of McKinney is founder and CEO of New Life Medical Equipment. He is a member of the Baylor Scott & White McKinney Medical Center Board of Trustees, McKinney Airport Advisory Committee, and the McKinney Comprehensive Plan Committee. He is also a volunteer for First Baptist Church in McKinney, student mentor for McKinney ISD, former volunteer for Voting for Hearing Impaired, and former member of Texas Rehab Action Network.  Robinson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in entrepreneurship and strategic management from the University of North Texas in Denton.

Neva Fairchild of Carrollton is a rehabilitation counselor for the American Foundation for the Blind. She is a member to the international board of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AERBVI) and past Texas state president and secretary of AERBVI. She is past president of the Braille Revival League of Texas and former regent of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Fairchild received a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation and a Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling psychology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Karen Stanfill of Houston is advocate supervisor for Disability Rights Texas. She is a member of the National, Texas and Houston Area Rehabilitation associations. Stanfill received a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Erin “Amanda” Bowdoin of Forney is a certified teacher of the visually impaired and a braillist for Mesquite ISD. She is a former volunteer for the American Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired and former member of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Committee for Region 10 Education Service Center. Bowdoin received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a Master of Education in special education specializing in visual impairment from Stephen F. Austin University.

Crystal H. George of Argyle is a job accommodation specialist for Sedgwick. She is an executive board member for the Texas Rehabilitation Association and a member of the Texas RehabAction Network, National Rehabilitation Association, and Association of People Supporting Employment First. She is past president of the North Texas Area Rehabilitation Association and a volunteer with the Weatherford Citizen Police Alumni Association. George received a Bachelor of Science in social science and a Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling from the University of North Texas.

Susan M. May of Austin is a program specialist in the Division of Federal and State Education Policy at the Texas Education Agency and a retired teacher from North East Independent School District in San Antonio. May received a Bachelor of Arts in education from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
