Governor Abbott Appoints Napier And Thompson To Department Of Information Resources

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Stacey Napier and Kara Thompson to the Department of Information Resources (DIR) for terms set to expire on February 1, 2025. DIR coordinates, monitors, and directs information resources management within state government.

Stacey Napier of Austin is the vice chancellor for governmental relations at The University of Texas System. She is a member of the Texas Bar Association, a volunteer with Generation Serve, and a Woman of Courage member with the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas. Napier received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Louisiana State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law. Napier fills the term of a member employed by an institution of higher education.

Kara Thompson of Austin is recently retired. She previously served as the chief strategy and risk officer of the Trellis Organization. In her spare time, she serves as principal and managing consultant of Kara Thompson Consulting. Thompson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from The University of Texas at Austin and a certificate of decision analysis and risk management from the Stanford Center for Professional Development.
