Governor Abbott Appoints Caughey To First Court Of Appeals

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jennifer Caughey to the First Court of Appeals for a term set to expire December 31, 2018, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.
 
Jennifer Caughey of Houston is of counsel at Smyser, Kaplan & Veselka, LLP. She previously served as a litigation associate at Baker Botts, LLP and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP. She also completed appellate clerkships at the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. She is a member of the State Bars of Texas and New York and the Bar of the District of Columbia. Additionally, she is a member of the Federalist Society and is actively involved in the St. Francis Episcopal Day School Community. Caughey received a Bachelor of Arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
