Governor Abbott Appoints Bryan And Kuebler To Board Of Pilot Commissioners For Galveston County Ports
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed James Perry “J.P.” Bryan, Jr. and Charles “Fritz” Kuebler to the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Galveston County Ports for terms set to expire on February 1, 2021 and February 1, 2019, respectively. The board has exclusive jurisdiction over the piloting of vessels on navigable streams wholly or partially located in the board’s jurisdiction.
James Perry “J.P.” Bryan, Jr. of Houston and Galveston is the founder and CEO of Torch Energy Advisors, Inc. He is the former president of the Texas State Historical Association and Texas Historical Foundation and a former director of The Briscoe Museum and the Brazoria County Historical Museum. Additionally, he is the former chairman of the Institute of Texan Cultures and previously was appointed to the Texas Historical Commission. Bryan received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas Law School, and is a graduate of the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Charles “Fritz” Kuebler of League City is the assistant director of Project Management for the City of League City. Previously, he was a Commissioned Officer with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for 20 years, retiring in August 2017. His service included being the Captain of two Coast Guard Cutters, the Dauntless homeported at Galveston, TX and the Jefferson Island homeported at South Portland, ME. He is a member of the Unites States Naval Institute, Surface Navy Association, United States Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association, National Eagle Scout Association, and the Project Management Institute. In addition, he is an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 603 in League City, member of the League City Lion's Club, and serves as an interviewer and volunteer for the Princeton Schools Committee and as a United States Coast Guard Academy Admissions Partner. Kuebler received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a Master of Public Policy from Princeton University.
