Governor Abbott Appoints Atkinson And Williams To Texas Public Finance Authority

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Joe Williams and reappointed Billy Atkinson, Jr. to the Texas Public Finance Authority for terms set to expire on February 1, 2023. The authority issues and sells bonds for designated state agencies in order to finance the acquisition or construction of buildings.

Joe Williams of Frisco is the founder and lead consultant of Beacon Street Financial Group, LLC. He is a member of the University of North Texas College of Music Advancement Board and the board chairman of PREP, Inc. Additionally, he is a former member of the Catholic Health Initiatives Healthcare System Investment Committee and The Greater New Orleans Foundation Finance and Investment Committees. He is also the former chair of the New Orleans City Planning Commission Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and the Louisiana Land Trust Finance Committee. Williams received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Questrom School of Business at Boston University and a Master of Business Administration in finance and multinational enterprise from The Wharton School of Business.

Billy Atkinson, Jr. of Sugar Land retired as a partner from PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP in 2011, after 40 years of service. He is the current chair of the Texas Public Finance Authority. He is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs Board of Directors and former chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Additionally, he is former chair for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Texas Gulf Coast Board of Directors. Atkinson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Texas A&M University
