Governor Abbott Appoints Atkins To Texas Commission On Law Enforcement

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Janna Atkins to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for a term set to expire on August 30, 2023. The commission establishes and enforces standards to ensure that the people of Texas are served by highly trained and ethical law enforcement, corrections, and telecommunications personnel.

Janna Atkins of Abilene is the Criminal Justice Training Specialist and Coordinator of the West Central Texas Council of Governments’ Regional Law Enforcement Academy and has thirty years of experience in of law enforcement, twenty of which include teaching police training classes. She is a licensed Master Peace Officer and has earned certifications as an Advanced Instructor, Sexual Assault and Family Violence Special Investigator, and a Firearms Instructor.  She is an instructor with the National Safety Council, co-chair of Champion for Children, and a former member of the Abilene Police Officers Association. Atkins is a graduate of Jim Ned High School and the Abilene Police Department Academy.
