Governor Abbott Appoints 23 To Early Childhood Intervention Advisory Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed 23 members to the Early Childhood Intervention Advisory Committee. The Committee advises the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Division for Early Childhood Intervention Services on development and implementation of policies that constitute the statewide ECI system.

Sarah E. Abrahams of Austin was reappointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Abrahams is the Deputy Associate Commissioner for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brandeis University and a Master of Public Affairs from The University of Texas in Austin.

Catherine K. Carlton of Arlington was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Carlton is Chief of Staff for My Health My Resources of Tarrant County. She received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University.

Cynthia A. “Cal” Lopez of Austin was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Lopez in the McKinney-Vento State Coordinator for the Texas Education Agency. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas in Austin.

Patricia K. Reedy of Texarkana was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Reedy is the Regional Coordinator-Region 8 for the Partners Resource Network-PATH Project. She received an Associates of Science in Business and General Studies from Texarkana Community College.

Patricia “Pattie” Rosenlund of Mission was reappointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Rosenlund is the Executive Director of Easter Seals Rio Grande Valley. She received a Bachelor of Science from The University of Florida and a Master of Science from The University of Texas Pan American .

Lizzeth Saldana of San Antonio was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Saldana is Assistant Project Manager for HB Construction, LLC. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas San Antonio and a Master of Science from Colorado Technical University.

Jeremy Triplett of Austin was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Triplett is MCH Section Director of the Department of State Health Services. He received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University.

Ryan D. Van Ramshorst, M.D. of San Antonio was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Van Ramshorst is Chief Medical Director, Medicaid/CHIP Services for Texas Health and Human Services Commission. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Chapman University, a Master of Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, and a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine.

Terrie F. Breeden of Wimberley was reappointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Breeden is the State 619 Coordinator for the Texas Education Agency. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master of Education from Lamar University.

Melissa G. Griffiths of Trophy Club was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Griffiths is the owner of DFW Advocacy. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from Stevens Henegar College.

Stephanie Klick of Fort Worth was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Klick is a member of the Texas State House of Representatives, representing District 91. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University.

Guillermo Lopez of Austin was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Lopez is the Senior Director of ECI for Any Baby Can of Austin. He received a Bachelor of Science of Occupational Therapy from The University of Texas Medical Branch Health Sciences at Galveston.

Christina R. Sherrod, M.D. of Southlake was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Sherrod is employed at Lake Worth Pediatrics at Cook Children’s. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas in Austin and a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Stephanie Shine, Ph.D. of Lubbock was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Shine is the early Childhood Program Director for Texas Tech University, and is Executive Director of Texas Tech University Center for Early Head Start.She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rice University, a Master of Science in Applied Genetic Psychology and Science of Education from University of Geneva, and a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Texas in Austin.

Laura J. Warren of Blanco was reappointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Warren is the Executive Director/Co-Director of Texas Parent to Parent. She attended Stephens College and The University of Texas in Austin.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Barry Zulfer of Round Rock was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2023. Zulfer is a stay-at-home parent. She received a Bachelor of Science and Arts from Pacific Lutheran University.

Rachel C. Bowden of Austin was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. Bowden is a Manager at the Texas Department of Insurance. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Sociology and a Master of Public Affairs in Public Policy from The University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Hannah H. English of Houston was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from The University of Texas in Austin.

Cynthia D. “Cindy” Lee of Wylie was appointed with a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. Lee is an ECSE/Pre-K Consultant for Region 10 Education Service Center. She received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior and a Master of Science in Special Education at Texas A&M Commerce.

Kristina B. Otterstrom of The Woodlands was appointed with a term to set to expire on February 1, 2025. Otterstrom is Managing Attorney at Otterstrom Law P.C. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Juris Doctor degree from Brigham Young University Law School.

Chasey Reed-Boston, Ed.D. of Texas City was appointed with a term to set to expire on February 1, 2025. Reed-Boston is the ECI Program Director at the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Arts in Human Services from Liberty University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
