Texanthropy Spotlight: 2016 Texas Nonprofit Summit Series
I want to tell you about an exciting project that I am truly honored to be participating in: the 2016 Texas Nonprofit Summit Series. Co-hosted by the OneStar Foundation and local partners, the series consists of three summits in three different parts of Texas. The first summit is August 5 in El Paso, followed by the Rio Grande Valley Summit on August 9 in Edinburg, and the Lubbock Summit on September 15.
Texans are generous by nature, and the summits will bring together nonprofit organizations, business and community leaders, volunteers, and others interested in learning how they can work together to help make a difference through service and volunteering. I will be attending all three summits, and I’m looking forward to learning about the issues affecting each region of the state and the good work that is going on to address the issues. This past spring I announced the launch of my Texanthropy initiative, which I am using to promote volunteerism and service to others as my primary focus as First Lady of Texas. I am very excited to have these opportunities to talk with Texans in all corners of the state about Texanthropy!
