Governor Abbott Announces Senior Staff Promotions

Governor Greg Abbott today announced changes to his senior staff, naming Jordan Hale as Deputy Chief of Staff and Sarah Hicks as Senior Advisor to the Governor. Jordan Hale previously served as Director of Administration for the Office of the Governor. Sarah Hicks has and will continue to serve as the Governor's budget director, in addition to her new role as Senior Advisor.

“Throughout their years of dedicated service, Jordan and Sarah have become invaluable members of my team, and I am thrilled to further expand their roles within the office,” said Governor Abbott. “My goals for the upcoming legislative session require a team dedicated to helping make Texas better, and I have no doubt Jordan and Sarah share my commitment to the people of our state. I congratulate them both and look forward to our continued work together.”

Jordan Hale will serve as Governor Abbott’s Deputy Chief of Staff. Hale currently serves as the Governor’s Director of Administration. Hale began working for the Governor in 2006 as an Assistant Attorney General in the Texas Attorney General’s Open Records Division. She later moved to the General Counsel Division of the OAG, serving as the Assistant Public Information Coordinator and then the Public Information Coordinator. She transitioned to Governor Abbott’s administration in 2015 as an Assistant General Counsel. Hale has also worked for the United States Senate. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Sarah Hicks will continue to serve as Governor Abbott’s Budget Director in addition to her new role as Senior Advisor. Hicks previously served as Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of State Relations at the Texas A&M University System. Prior to that she worked as the Committee Director of the Texas Senate Committee on Finance and as a legislative aide to former State Senator Steve Ogden. Hicks holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas A&M University.
