Governor Greg Abbott today announced that Continental Structural Plastics, Inc. (“CSP”) will establish a new composites manufacturing facility in Seguin, Texas. CSP, a Teijin Group Company, is a world leader in lightweight composite technologies, including glass and carbon fibers, thermoplastics, and thermosets. The project will create 200 new jobs and more than $65 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $783,750 has been extended to Continental Structural Plastics, Inc. The Governor joined Teijin and CSP executives in Tokyo, Japan for the announcement.

"I am proud to welcome Continental Structural Plastics to the Lone Star State, and look forward to the important role they will play in the Texas success story," said Governor Abbott. "Thanks to their investment, Texas will continue to lead the way in job creation, innovation, and economic prosperity."

“We could not be more pleased with the support we’ve received from the State of Texas as we move forward with our expansion efforts,” said Steve Rooney, CEO of Continental Structural Plastics. “From the Governor’s office, to the City of Seguin and Guadalupe County, there has been a coordinated approach to helping us secure a location that will enable us to expand our geographic footprint to meet our future manufacturing needs.”

“Continental Structural Plastics will play a key role in the future of our important Composites Business Unit, and we truly appreciate the cooperation we have received from the State of Texas to support CSP’s continued growth,” said Jun Suzuki, president and CEO, Teijin Limited.  “We look forward to a long and mutually-prosperous relationship with the State of Texas and the Seguin community.”

“Seguin’s strategic location, skilled workforce and pro-business government make us an attractive option for businesses looking to expand,” said Seguin Mayor Don Keil. “We are extremely excited to announce this project and look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial relationship with Continental Structural Plastics.”

“We are delighted that Continental Structural Plastics has selected the City of Seguin and Guadalupe County to build their new manufacturing facility. This project will help create excellent employment opportunities for our residents and help grow our economic base. We are proud that they have chosen to do business in Guadalupe County,” said Kyle Kutscher, Guadalupe County Judge.

“Economic development is a team sport, and today’s announcement would not be possible if it were not for the collaboration between the SEDC, the City, the County and the State of Texas. Our hard work together over the past several months on this project helped secure this investment to Seguin and Guadalupe County. We are excited to have CSP as the newest member of the Seguin Business Community and we are confident that their Seguin operation will flourish for years to come.” Said Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation.
