The 2017 Governor’s Gallery
I once again had the pleasure of participating in the Governor’s Gallery – works of art created by Texas schoolchildren grades pre-k through senior in high school that are displayed in the Governor’s Business Office in the Capitol for a year.
The yearly tradition of the Governor’s Gallery was established by First Lady Laura Bush during her husband’s tenure as Governor of Texas and is coordinated by the Texas Art Education Association. This was my third year to select the items for the Gallery, and just like year’s past, I was blown away by the amazing works of art created by talented young Texans.
One afternoon last month I hosted a reception at the Capitol to unveil the 2017 Governor’s Gallery. I had a wonderful time getting to meet the artists, their families, and their art teachers.
