Persons with Disabilities History and Awareness Month
Earlier this month Greg issued a proclamation declaring October “Persons with Disabilities History and Awareness Month” in Texas. This is such an important designation because it is a time for us to celebrate the many Texans with disabilities who have influenced our state’s history. In the proclamation, Greg states:
"Throughout our state’s history, Texans with disabilities have played an important role in making Texas the greatest state in our nation to live, work and raise a family. Demonstrating the remarkable qualities of the Texas spirit courage, independence and ingenuity they have filled some of our highest offices, fought in historic battles and contributed to the art and culture of our state.”
I have always said that what makes Texas truly special is the people. I encourage all Texans to join us in recognizing the achievements of Texans with disabilities, who have contributed so much to our society, and celebrating the many positive impacts that Texans with disabilities have had on our state and the role that they have played in making it the wonderful place that it is today.
