Friends of the Governor’s Mansion Celebrates 40th Anniversary
Every day I am so thankful to call the Governor’s Mansion home. It is a truly special place, a beautiful and historic home that has served our great state since 1856.
Today, I had the opportunity to celebrate an organization dedicated to preserving the historical and cultural integrity of the Texas Governor’s Mansion.
Established in 1979 by Governor William P. Clements Jr. and First Lady Rita Clements, the nonprofit Friends of the Governor’s Mansion works to educate the public about the building and oversee the Mansion collection of furnishings and state-owned artifacts.
The 40th anniversary of this noteworthy organization was recognized on the Texas House and Senate floor today, which I was honored to attend.
Their hard work to enhance the mansion and reflect its significance in Texas history will allow the home to be enjoyed for generations to come.
