2021 Governor’s Volunteer Awards
Serving others is at the heart of what it means to be a Texan. We are generous by nature, and compassion is the foundation of our success. I am continually inspired by the generosity and dedication shown by volunteers across this great state, especially over the past year and a half. Now more than ever, we must continue to embrace our communities, lending a hand to our friends and neighbors and looking out for those in need.
This is why OneStar Foundation and I are thrilled to recognize this year's Governor's Volunteer Awards recipients. These 11 outstanding awardees are demonstrating the attitude of selfless service and posture of compassionate friendship that set Texans apart. They are boldly leading the way in making their local communities, and our state, better places than they found them.
Service and volunteerism are important to me because I know they are important to so many of my fellow Texans. I always say that what makes Texas special is the people who call it home. Our state isn't great by chance—Texas is great because of people like our 2021 award recipients, who are a powerful testament to the character of the Lone Star State.
