  • San Antonio: City on the Rise Video Competition

    The San Antonio Film Festival will host a competition for local filmmakers to show off thei rtalent and tell the story of San Antonio's untapped potential in its "City on the Rise" Video Competition. The winning filmmakers will be awarded $10,000 sponsored by 80/20 Foundation and will be announced at the 2015 San Antonio Film Festival.

    Extremely Young Film Festival

    Aurora Picture Show is pleased to be a part of the Extremely Young Film Festival in partnership with Reliant, an NRG Company. Hosted at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, this film festival showcases the innovative talents of youth and teen filmmakers from around the world.

    Born out of the spirit of Aurora Picture Show's Extremely Shorts Film Festival, which features film and video under three minutes long, Extremely Young Film Festival puts the spotlight on films under three minutes long from makers under 17 years old.

    Extremely Shorts Film Festival

    Aurora Picture Show is accepting submissions period for the 2015 Extremely Shorts Film Festival. The 17th annual festival will be held June 2015 in Houston, Texas. The festival is a juried competition of adventurous three-minute or shorter films and videos from around the world. Each year a different juror (esteemed filmmaker, film programmer or arts curator) selects 20-25 mini-masterpieces to be shown at a two day screening event. Audience Choice cash awards are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The short format of the festival encourages innovative approaches to movie-making in a range of genres including narrative, art, experimental, documentary and animation.

    Austin Film Festival - Teleplay, Screenplay, Scripted Digital

    Whether you have a teleplay or feature screenplay, AFF looks for a strong original voice. This year, AFF has announced the return of the Short Screenplay Competition and are introducing the . From the indie to the mainstream, they strive to ensure that unique, compelling stories rise to the top and get the recognition they deserve. Short & Feature Screenplays as well as the Teleplays have the same deadlines.

    For the first time ever, Austin Film Festival is introducing the Scripted Digital Series Competition. This competition will accept both filmed and written submissions in an effort to find talented voices who can adapt their vision to emerging digital platforms. Out of the group of film and script submissions from the competition, AFF will select one winner who displays the strongest voice and greatest potential for establishing a digital series.

    Austin Youth Film Festival

    The Austin Youth Film Festival seeks to give young, independent filmmakers a venue to showcase their work before audiences of peers, locals, and industry professionals.     Josiah Media Festival

    The Josiah Media Festival is URBAN-15's annual nationwide film and media event that is open only to filmmakers age 21 and younger. It is named after Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented media artist from San Antonio who passed away in 2006. The festival is accepting short film submissions (20 minutes or less) for the 2014 festival. All key contributors on the submitted film--director, writer, editor, director of photography--must have been 21 years old or younger at the time the submitted film was made.

    The Capital City Black Film Festival (CCBFF) welcomes features, shorts, documentary features and documentary/short films and music videos for its competitive program.     HCA & NASA Preseent: CineSpace - A Short Film Competition

    The submission window opens June 1, 2015 and closes July 31, 2015. The competition is open to all filmmakers, both professional and aspiring. Submissions of all genres, up to 15 minutes running time, will be accepted. Entries must use at least 10 percent publically available NASA imagery. Films featuring NASA-captured imagery and video collected throughout the agency's 50-year history will be judged on creativity, innovation and attention to detail - the same hallmarks of spaceflight. Works submitted to CineSpace will compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to be shown to audiences both on and off Earth.

    Formerly known as the Off Kilter Film Festival, the Bastrop Texas Film & Music Festival is 4 days of music, feature & short films, red carpet events, filmmaker Q&A sessions, workshops, screenings from local high school students' 48 Hour Film Festival projects, and a catered awards ceremony.     Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival

    The Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival strives to challenge viewers to examine the portrayal of people with disabilities in film and challenge negative stereotypes and to champion realistic portrayals of people with disabilities as fully dignified human beings with the potential to live full and productive lives.

    The short film competition is your opportunity to share your view of disability with the Cinema Touching Disability audience. CTD wants interesting, imaginative, and creative representations of disability on film. All filmmakers, including professional independent filmmakers, amateur filmmakers, and secondary and university students of all ages are invited to submit their own representations of disability in a short film.
