March 1, 1974 | On this day in TFC history: Almost five years after the launch of the Texas Film Commission, Executive Director Warren Skaaren announced to the Texas production community that he would be departing the TFC to "write, and produce feature motion pictures, selected documentaries, and television programs for national and international markets." He went on to note:
"But I'm not leaving Texas. Many of our projects will be Texas stories, and I'm proud to say that I'm going to employ Texans whenever I can."
