Film Production Assistant Workshop in El Paso on October 28th & 29th

October 17, 2017 | El Paso, Texas

EL PASO, TEXAS - The El Paso Film Commission is pleased to announce they will be holding a Film Production Assistant (P.A.) Workshop in El Paso, October 28th and 29th. The event, presented by Houston-based non-profit SWAMP (Southwest Alternate Media Project) is a two-day, certification course for the film and television industry’s entry level position of Production Assistant. The Texas Film Commission will provide a production assistant certification to all Texas residents who complete the course.

The P.A. Workshop will cover terminology, paperwork, etiquette, processes and physical requirements of a production assistant’s job, and will be taught by active working industry professionals. The workshop will allow attendees to develop the skills and flexibility needed to be successful in finding work in the El Paso motion picture and television industry.

Leora Backer Mohr will be leading the workshop. Ms. Mohr is a member of the Directors Guild of America and has served as a 1st Assistant Director for more than twenty years in award-winning TV, films, commercials, and music videos.

The El Paso Film Commission is providing a 50% discount for Texas residents enrolling in the workshop. “Training new production assistants is critical for the continued growth of film and television production in El Paso,” says El Paso Film Commissioner Susie Gaines “and this workshop will provide the training necessary for individuals to comfortably move into entry-level positions on productions.”

Interested parties may register for the event at the SWAMP website (www.swamp.org), and pay online. Limited space is available. The workshop fee is $100.00 and includes class instruction and practical experience in afternoon “breakout” sessions. Lunch is also included.
