At Work With… Jesus Sifuentes, Producer

July 5, 2021 | San Antonio, Texas

The ‘At Work With…’ Interview Series is our way of bringing you behind-the-scenes with the names and businesses included in our Texas Production Directory (TPD). We want to showcase the creatives that cover all levels of production experience, backgrounds, and geographies around the state.

This week’s spotlight is on Jesus Sifuentes, Producer based in San Antonio and a life-long Texan.

Your claim to fame: What special skill or fun fact differentiates you from others?
I’m a film producer who specializes in film business plans. I have raised over $1.5 million  to date for my filmmaker clients who have used the custom business plans I've made for them.

What’s the most memorable experience on a project or production that you’ve had and what made it so special?
Filming a 35mm commercial with Eva Longoria. It was the last time I filmed on 35mm.

What are the skills required to succeed in your specific area of expertise?
Pivot quickly, mold chaos, and keep your eye on the prize.

Have you had an industry mentor or colleague that has made an impact on you or helped you along your career path? If so who, and how did they impact you?
Yes, Daniel Ramos who gave me my first PA job. It was a Target commercial shot on 35mm by director Albert Hughes, and the first time I saw a green screen.

What advice have you been given that continues to be helpful in your work?
Your network is your net worth.

In your industry, collaboration is the key to success. How do you best foster collaboration with your colleagues from project to project?
Pre-Production. Storyboards, Shot list, Tech Scouts, etc. Do the work.

What’s the best part about working in Texas?
There’s so much space.

What are some of the projects made in Texas that you feel reflect the diverse culture of the state?
An H-E-B commercial filmed in San Antonio. The crew and cast reflect the true culture.

Interview has been edited for brevity.

Texas has thousands of freelance individuals, companies and associations that serve the film, television, commercial, video game, animation & XR industries.
