About the Event:

KAMP HOLLYWOOD PROVIDES STUDENTS SUMMER FUN AND SKILLS

July 27 - August 2
9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
MediaTech Digital Film Studios
Las Colinas Communication Complex
400 E. Royal Lane
Irving, TX 75039

Kamp Hollywood is one of the nation's first hands-on moviemaking summer camps that integrate film production and acting for young people ages 8-18. Many kids have opportunities for piano, theater and dance, but the young person that is gifted in, or curious about, another important art form, namely the MOVING IMAGE, has had nothing that really offers an comprehensive understanding of both production and acting. Participants will learn both moving image acting and film production as well as vital teamwork discipline to create a short video and DVD. Instructors are all industry film production pros, many from the premier MediaTech Digital Film Studios, who will work with up to 50 students. Students work as teams to create their own digital short film that later will be screened by friends and family at a graduation wrap party. The party will be a chance for parents and students to meet real film producers, directors, and agents.

"We do not stick a camcorder in a kid's hand and say 'go to it'. Children joining us in Kamp Hollywood will learn about how to really make a movie and how to have fun doing it. They will gain a since of accomplishment and will know whether or not they wish to continue learning more about the art and business of filmmaking," states Keith Duncan, Executive Producer and Movie Institute Founder. "2009 is the 10th camp we have done, and some of the campers have gone on to prestigious film schools or adopted filmmaking as an exciting hobby. We also provide scholarships for students who have financial hardships but show an extreme interest in the art of moviemaking or demonstrate exceptional abilities in acting. These are generously provided by some of our sponsors like the Texas Film Commission, the Dallas Producers Association and Women In Film. Other sponsors such as Post Asylum, MediaTech Institute Studios in Las Colinas, MPS Studios, McAlister Talent, and Adventure Graphics all help with equipment and other things." states Duncan.

The 2009 camp season will begin July 27-August 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration deadline is July 13, 2009. Register by going to www.movieinstitute.com. Regular tuition is $650 and alumni tuition is $550. Kamp fun is held at the MediaTech Digital Film Studios in the Las Colinas Communication Complex located at 400 E. Royal Lane, Irving, TX 75039.
